From Pandemic Project to Community Hub: The Evolution of Jon & Mum

The Westcott Village Hub CIC has its roots in a heartwarming response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in 2020, as lockdowns began and access to fresh produce became challenging, a local initiative called "Jon & Mum Groceries" emerged. What started as a simple, thoughtful veg box delivery service run by Jon and his mum, quickly grew to serve the needs of the Westcott community, providing essential groceries directly to doorsteps.

Recognising the profound need for community connection and sustainable resources beyond the pandemic, the success of Jon & Mum blossomed into a grander vision. This led to the formation of the Westcott Village Hub Community Interest Company (CIC). Transitioning from a delivery service, the Hub opened a physical space, evolving into the vibrant refill shop and community cafe it is today. It now serves as a central point for sustainable shopping, a social gathering place, and home to the Mid Surrey Community Fridges, embodying the spirit of local support and resilience that began with Jon & Mum.
